Local funds for local needs

Budget Overview

For FY 2024-25 the County expended approximately $105 Million of Measure K funds on a wide array of Service Initiatives and Capital Projects aimed at addressing the needs of the residents of San Mateo County. The majority of dollars spent were focused on Housing and Homelessness; and Children, Families, and Seniors. The total Measure K budget for FY 2024-25, for Services and Capital, was $261.05 Million.

Most Obligated funds are connected with Capital-focused Initiatives and Projects where the money is utilized over time for different stages of the project, and any funds not spent within the fiscal year are rolled forward into the next year. Any budgeted dollars not spent or rolled forward are returned to Measure K Reserves. More detailed financial information can be found in the Annual Reports and Financial Audits.
